This garden was made almost exclusively from mature planting overlaying an inherited and extended hard landscaping scheme. The ethos of the whole estate is one of creating a synthesised landscape for the homeowners, wildlife and natural plants. We chose to make the garden entirely from productive plants: fruit, vegetables, herbs and wild medicinal plants. Laid hedges as well as big natural hedges abound and a vast nuttery ties into the sweet chestnut coppice woodland that flanks the estate. The principle lawns have been turned into vegetable beds and these are the only areas of the garden that are worked in a traditional manner.
